The Berlin Brandenburg Innovation Prize 2025 has recognized five groundbreaking companies pushing the boundaries of technology and sustainability. With €75,000 in prize money distributed among the winners, this year's selection from over 100 applications showcases the region's position as one of Germany's most dynamic innovation hubs.
The winners demonstrate remarkable diversity in their approaches to solving critical challenges. Spree Monitoring developed ConScope, a bridge monitoring system using Coda wave interferometry to detect structural changes with unprecedented sensitivity, extending infrastructure lifespan while reducing traffic disruptions. DiGOS Potsdam created a fiber optic sensor system that monitors real-time changes in roads, bridges, and levees across kilometers, strengthening critical infrastructure resilience.
In the energy sector, pyropower's Pyro-ClinX system represents a significant breakthrough, converting wood residues into green electricity, heat, and biochar simultaneously through a unique combination of pyrolysis and microturbine technology. The process is CO₂-negative, economically viable, and scalable, marking an important step toward sustainable energy production.
QuSinus advanced telecommunications with laser-based signal generators that are 100 times more accurate than existing systems, enabling faster data connections crucial for 6G networks and quantum communication. SOLYCO TECC pioneered TECC-Connect, the world's first silver, lead, and bismuth-free cell interconnection technology for solar panels, replacing conventional soldering with a patented method using plastic-coated copper wires.
The special prize went to bettermarks, an intelligent learning system for mathematics education that provides real-time feedback and identifies over 2,800 error patterns to support students from grades 4 to 12.
Berlin's Senator for Economy Franziska Giffey emphasized that these companies embody visionary ideas strengthening the region as an innovation powerhouse, while Brandenburg's Economy Minister Daniel Keller highlighted how creative solutions address today's economic and societal challenges.
