Berlin has underscored its leading position as Germany's top AI location by winning two important awards at the seventh German AI Awards. Berlin-based companies won both the AI Innovation Award and the AI Start-up Award.

The prestigious Innovation Award went to n8n, a Berlin-based technology company that's making waves by connecting low-code and no-code workflows with artificial intelligence. Founder and CEO Jan Oberhauser accepted the honor in person. The company empowers technical teams to automate recurring processes while seamlessly integrating AI into existing corporate systems.

Berlin celebrated a second victory when Simply Onno claimed the Start-up Award. The young company has developed an AI solution, validated by medical experts, that translates complex medical documents into plain language that anyone can understand. From doctors' letters to medical reports, Simply Onno is breaking down barriers between healthcare professionals and patients.

The Application Award went to Aachen-based taxy.io, a tax and financial services provider using AI-powered analytics to streamline tax and finance departments. Meanwhile, U.S. composer Holly Herndon received the newly introduced AI Honorary Award for her pioneering work in AI-generated music, including the development of Spawn, an AI system that creates voice-like sounds.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief AI at WELT, Olaf Gersemann, emphasized the award's significance: "Artificial intelligence is already shaping business, science, and society—and its influence is growing at tremendous speed." He stressed that Europe must actively shape AI development rather than merely follow it.

The German AI Award, presented by WELT at the Axel Springer building, has been recognizing outstanding achievements in AI research, development, and practical application since 2018. This year's partners included DHL and PwC.
