Berlin's Graforce Lands Major Funding for Green Hydrogen Tech

Berlin-based cleantech company Graforce has closed a strategic double-digit million-euro financing round, backed by an investor consortium including Paris-based deep-tech fund Calderion (Audacia), infrastructure developer Terravent, and WenCo Family Office. According to the company's press release, the funds will go toward scaling Graforce's proprietary plasma pyrolysis technology globally.

The company applies plasma to methane, biogas, flare gas and landfill gas, converting these streams into clean hydrogen, syngas and high-purity carbon, rather than releasing them as emissions. When biogenic feedstocks are used, the process can even achieve a negative CO₂ footprint, permanently storing carbon instead of releasing it into the atmosphere.

The technology positions itself as a direct alternative to conventional, CO₂-heavy industrial processes like steam reforming and classical gasification, while remaining compatible with existing industrial infrastructure. That's a big deal for industries struggling to decarbonize without ripping out legacy systems.

Alongside the funding news, Graforce is deepening its collaboration with Austrian energy storage company RAG Austria AG, which is supporting the further development of the methane plasma pyrolysis plant with financial and technical expertise. The focus is on system optimization and modular plant deployment, particularly in locations with variable renewable energy availability.

Graforce CEO Dr. Jens Hanke called the investment a major step toward making plasmalysis technology scalable and cost-effective. The capital will fund tech development, additional industrial plants and international market expansion.
