Berlin-based Libra Technology is joining forces with global legal information leader Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory in an acquisition and strategic partnership valued at up to €90 million. According to the company's press release, this collaboration marks a significant milestone in how legal professionals across Europe will work with AI in the future.
When Legal Expertise Meets Cutting-Edge AI
Libra has built something quite practical: a secure, integrated workspace platform where lawyers can research, analyze, and draft documents all in one place. Think of it as a smart digital office that understands the legal context, not just keywords. The platform combines AI capabilities with the actual workflow of legal work, connecting seamlessly with tools like Word and Outlook that lawyers already use daily.
Since 2023, over 9,000 users from more than 800 law firms and in-house legal departments have been working with Libra. Now, by partnering with Wolters Kluwer, a company with decades of legal expertise and access to Europe's most comprehensive legal content, Libra is taking things to the next level.
"We brought the workspace concept into legal practice," explains Viktor von Essen, Co-Founder and CEO of Libra. "By collaborating with Wolters Kluwer, we can now connect this technological edge with leading legal content. The result: a fully integrated AI workplace where research, analysis, and document creation merge into one intelligent workflow."
What's Coming Next
The partnership brings clear benefits for users. Libra will expand into additional European markets with full localization and integration of local legal content. The platform will become even more intuitive, with smarter assistants and deeper integration into everyday legal tools.
"We're developing Libra so that AI becomes a natural part of legal work, directly within existing systems," says Dr. Bo Tranberg, Co-Founder and CTO of Libra. "Through the partnership with Wolters Kluwer, we can scale this integration across Europe, tailored to each market's specific requirements."
Martin O'Malley, CEO of Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory, emphasizes that this acquisition complements their existing Expert AI solutions and accelerates their own AI development roadmap.
