Berlin-based praxipal has raised $6.7 million in seed funding to expand its AI receptionist solution for medical practices. According to Tech EU, HV Capital led the round, with participation from Nebular, Anamcara Capital, HPI Ventures and Angel Invest.

Founded in 2024, praxipal addresses a pressing challenge in Germany's healthcare sector: over 80 percent of medical practices struggle to hire medical assistants. The company's AI receptionist, Luna, automates patient communication by handling phone calls, scheduling appointments, and managing inquiries—currently resolving more than 50 percent of calls at participating practices without human intervention.

Unlike basic voice bots, Luna engages patients in natural, human-like conversations using domain-specific knowledge and understanding of practice workflows. The system integrates seamlessly with existing practice management software, operating like a human staff member within established IT infrastructure. Practices can configure Luna's behaviour to match their specific needs and processes.

The AI assistant provides end-to-end service: when patients call their practice, the call routes to Luna, who obtains consent before conducting conversations and resolving appointment-related requests directly in the practice management system. If Luna cannot handle a request, it transfers the call to human staff. The system also sends appointment confirmations and generates call summaries.

With 24/7 availability, Luna reduces unanswered calls and shifts routine tasks away from medical assistants, enabling them to focus on in-person patient care. The fresh funding will support expansion beyond orthodontics into additional medical specialties and further development of the AI receptionist's capabilities as healthcare staffing shortages continue to intensify.
