Berlin's roclub Raises $11.7M for MedTech Platform

Berlin-based roclub has closed a $11.7 million Series A funding round to address one of healthcare's most pressing challenges: the global shortage of qualified medical technicians. Led by Smedvig Ventures and YZR Capital, with participation from existing investor Speedinvest, the investment will fuel the company's US market entry and platform expansion.

According to the company's press release, roclub's cloud and AI-based teleoperation platform is changing how medical imaging equipment is operated. The technology enables remote access and control of MRI and CT scanners—regardless of manufacturer or device type. Medical technicians can operate multiple systems simultaneously from any location, ensuring scans happen on time while preventing costly equipment downtime.

At the heart of the solution is roclub's smartphone-sized connector, which attaches to any medical device with a monitor. This hardware enables remote control while supporting direct video and audio communication between on-site staff, remote specialists, and patients. The result: routine and specialized examinations can be performed anywhere, anytime, with top quality—while creating flexible, hybrid working conditions for technicians.

Co-founders André Glardon and Dr. Matthias Issing know the problem firsthand. After building a large European diagnostics chain, they experienced how staff shortages left expensive equipment sitting idle, causing significant revenue losses. Since launching in 2022, roclub has expanded to 11 countries, serving major diagnostic imaging providers in hospitals and outpatient facilities.

The fresh capital will accelerate US expansion, with roclub Americas more than doubling headcount in 2026. The company is also preparing to launch its marketplace platform in late 2025, connecting healthcare facilities with remote MedTech experts who can operate connected devices from anywhere in the world.

"We want to become the global standard for teleoperation in medical technology," says Issing, emphasizing how the platform combines medical devices, robotics, AI, and ultra-fast connectivity to enable cross-border collaboration.
