Emblematic Secures $2M to Transform Accounting Tasks

Berlin-based startup Emblematic has raised $2 million in pre-seed funding to transform how mid-market companies handle accounting and finance operations. The round was led by Passion Capital, with participation from Caesar VC, Plug and Play, K Fund, and several fintech angels, according to Tech EU.
Founded by fintech entrepreneur Edgar Alvarez and AI specialist Prokopis Gryllos, Emblematic tackles a growing pain point for finance teams: managing increasing transaction volumes and complexity without constantly expanding headcount. As companies scale, finance departments face mounting pressure to process more invoices, classify transactions across multiple jurisdictions, and maintain consistent internal accounting practices.
Traditional ERP systems and rigid rule-based automation often fall short. They work well until exceptions pile up, then they break down, leaving teams to handle repetitive manual tasks. This can lead to inaccurate data, higher staff turnover, and increased compliance risks.
Emblematic's solution uses AI agents that learn each company's unique accounting logic—including chart of accounts, cost structures, tax rules, and departmental policies. Built on large language models and fine-tuned with company-specific data, these agents autonomously process documents, categorise entries, detect anomalies, and integrate seamlessly with existing ERP workflows.
The platform is already delivering impressive results for early adopters across finance, tech, real estate, and healthcare sectors. According to co-founder Alvarez, the agents achieve over 99% accuracy in extracting and matching data from financial documents, over 98% accuracy in categorizing transactions, and can handle taxes across 30+ countries.
Crucially, Emblematic maintains human oversight. The AI agents provide natural-language explanations and confidence scores for their actions, allowing accountants to review and override decisions when needed. A complete audit trail ensures governance and compliance requirements are met.
With the fresh funding, Emblematic plans to expand its portfolio of AI agents and accelerate platform development while onboarding more international clients in technology and financial services.
