Berlin-based Germandrones is intensifying its collaboration with Ukrainian partner PERUN Precision Works Ukraine, delivering advanced surveillance and combat drones while building local production capacity.
According to the company's press release, more than 500 Songbird surveillance drones have reached Ukrainian units over the past twelve months. The partnership goes beyond deliveries, encompassing pilot training, maintenance services, and continuous technical improvements based on frontline feedback.
The cooperation centers on joint engineering work between German and Ukrainian teams. Germandrones engineers and PERUN specialists work directly with Ukrainian armed forces to translate operational experience into practical upgrades. These incremental updates enhance hardware and software performance, flight range, communication systems, and navigation capabilities under combat conditions.
Beyond the Songbird program, the partnership extends to the Phoenix FPV drone, which has successfully completed operational testing with Ukrainian units. The Phoenix K1 model carries payloads up to 3.5 kg and operates at ranges up to 30 km, supported by AI-powered target acquisition and tracking.
Production expansion is underway through Ragnarök LLC, a joint venture between Germandrones and Ukrainian partner Andrey Lutsky. The company is scaling facilities to manufacture up to 10,000 Phoenix units monthly. The joint venture also plans to develop interceptor systems and medium-term equipment for NATO countries.
"Germandrones is strengthening its commitment to long-term support of the Ukrainian armed forces through technology partnerships and local production," said Klaus Scho, CEO of Germandrones. "This will enable us to achieve our goals of technological leadership and growth more quickly."
Igor Savuliak, CEO of PERUN Precision Works Ukraine, emphasized the practical benefits: "Close integration of production, training and field operations ensures rapid, practical improvements and reliable local sustainment."
The Berlin company's approach combines immediate operational support with strategic production capacity building in Ukraine.
