JPMorgan Chase has officially opened its German headquarters for digital consumer bank Chase in Berlin's historic newspaper district, according to the company's press release. The new office, located in X8 Berlin near Checkpoint Charlie, spans over 5,500 square meters across two floors with capacity for around 400 workplaces.
The move marks Chase's commitment to the German market, where it plans to launch a digital banking app with personalized customer service in the second quarter of 2026. The bank will be operated by J.P. Morgan SE in Germany.
"With our new office in Berlin, we're opening a new chapter," said Daniel Llano Manibardo, Head of Germany, International Consumer Banking. He emphasized that Berlin's diverse pool of digital talent makes the city the ideal location to advance Chase's development.
The choice of Berlin reflects the city's status as Germany's fintech and startup center. Mayor Franziska Giffey highlighted that the expansion underscores Berlin's role as one of Europe's most innovative fintech locations, calling it "the place to be" for international financial companies and top talent.
The state-of-the-art office features open, light-filled spaces, modern meeting areas, and two work cafés. Employee wellbeing is prioritized with mindfulness, meditation, and prayer rooms. All workstations are height-adjustable and equipped with dual screens. Sustainability plays a central role: the building runs on renewable energy and aims for LEED Gold certification.
Chase has already created over 100 jobs in Berlin and plans to continue growing. The office will eventually also house colleagues from private and corporate banking divisions. JPMorgan Chase's roots in Berlin date back to 1924, when a predecessor company opened its first representative office in the capital.
