n8n Raises $180 Million: Making AI Work in Real Business

Berlin-based n8n just pulled in $180 million in Series C funding, pushing its total valuation to $2.5 billion. The round is led by Accel and includes heavyweight backers like NVIDIA Ventures and T.Capital, alongside previous investors including Sequoia and Felicis Ventures.

Here's what makes this milestone interesting: while everyone's racing to build smarter AI models, n8n is solving a different problem. The platform helps companies actually use those models in their workflows—reliably and at scale.

The company identifies a real gap in the market. Some AI platforms let algorithms run wild with pure autonomy, which can be unpredictable for business-critical work. Others lock everything into rigid, rule-based systems that require constant developer intervention. Neither works well for companies trying to move fast.

n8n's approach sits in the middle: give teams flexible control over where their AI agents operate on the autonomy spectrum. More importantly, the platform brings together the people who understand the business need with the technical builders—on the same platform, in real time.

According to the company's press release, this "coordination" layer is crucial. Without it, organizations get stuck in endless feedback loops: engineers build in isolation, business users test and comment, iterations drag on. Nothing reaches production because collaboration is broken.

The numbers tell the story: n8n saw 6x user growth and 10x revenue growth this year alone. The platform now powers workflows everywhere—from home automation enthusiasts to the United Nations running mission-critical systems.

Founder Jan Oberhauser's vision is clear: n8n should become the default platform for building and deploying AI, just as Excel became essential for spreadsheets.
