Berlin cybersecurity startup revel8 has secured €7 million in total funding to help companies defend against increasingly sophisticated AI-powered cyber threats. The company announced a €5.7 million seed round led by Peak, with participation from Fortino Capital, Merantix Capital, and notable business angels including footballer Mario Götze and Celonis CEO Alexander Rinke.
Founded in 2024 by former Celonis employees Julius Muth, Tom Müller, and Robert Seilbeck, revel8 addresses a growing problem: generative AI has made cyberattacks alarmingly convincing. Voice phishing incidents surged by over 442% in 2024, and high-profile breaches have cost companies millions. A deepfake video call tricked a Hong Kong bank manager into transferring $25 million, while Marks & Spencer reported losses exceeding £300 million from a voice phishing attack in April 2025.
According to the company's press release, revel8's platform takes a different approach to cybersecurity training. Instead of outdated e-learning modules, it creates realistic simulations of current AI-powered attacks, including deepfakes and multi-channel threats. The system uses open-source intelligence to personalize training for each employee, adapting to their role, behavior, and performance. "By continuously exposing users to cyberattacks across all communication channels, we help clients to build a strong security culture," explains CEO Julius Muth.
The startup already counts major German companies like FC Bayern, OBI, and Stihl among its customers and is one of the first cybersecurity providers on Stackit marketplace from Schwarz Group, offering enterprises a European cloud alternative.
With the fresh capital, revel8 plans to scale its team and product development while expanding internationally. The company aims to train 10 million 'human firewalls' and help organizations meet compliance requirements including NIS2 and ISO 27001.
